Changing Lives Through Music
Every child has the potential to play music – and more importantly, to believe in themselves because of it. That’s the idea Rocksteady is built on: no child should ever be left behind when it comes to music education.
Rocksteady was founded in 2008 by music teacher Mark Robinson, who used his lunch breaks to develop a more progressive and inclusive music program – one that was accessible to the whole school. This pioneering approach to teaching puts children first, breaks down barriers, and proves that music belongs to everyone.
MUSIC EDUCATION WITH AN IMPACT
fun and progress meet
Rocksteady’s unique, pioneering child-centred approach enables any child to learn to play an instrument in a band alongside their peers, levelling the playing field for children and making music fun, accessible and inclusive.
Progressing at their own pace through an expertly designed curriculum of up to 300 musical skills, children are taught valuable life skills which will help them as they progress through school, enabling them to leave with what they need to succeed; the belief they can.
music qualification
All Rocksteady children can achieve an exam-free music qualification, accredited by Trinity College London, at no extra cost. This first-of-its-kind qualification, delivered through proprietary technology, tracks pupils’ progress in real time and is helping Rocksteady to buck the trend of declining music qualifications.
Children achieve a qualification simply by doing what they love and attending band lessons. For those who have experienced challenging starts in life, achieving a music qualification can be a powerful marker on their bio, emphasising their potential and not just their starting point.
Founded in 1872, Trinity College London is a leading, globally recognised awarding organisation, publisher, and independent education charity.
