Rocksteady’s mission is to remove barriers to music education for as many children as possible, helping them build confidence and belonging, and discover joy through music.

The Rocksteady Foundation delivers free music experiences for children who need it most, supporting children across a range of challenging circumstances – from financial difficulty and special educational needs, to young carers and refugees.

Each year, Rocksteady delivers more than $6 million worth of free music teaching and experiences to children facing difficult situations across the globe.

Because no matter their start in life, every child deserves that opportunity.

How we support children

Foundation Days bring joy and inspiration

Our Foundation Days, led by experienced musicians, are accessible, inclusive and adapted to all skill levels – empowering each child to unlock their potential and discover new passions.

Supporting charities and communities

The Rocksteady Foundation works with community organisations across Australia, and the world, to provide support where it’s needed most – so more children have the chance to feel included and inspired by music. 

Partnering with schools to provide more possibilities for children

We collaborate closely with schools to ensure that students who wouldn’t otherwise be able to participate can access a high-quality music education program, through our bursary and match funding programs. 

Helping children feel supported

A music experience for all children

Music has a powerful impact, especially for children facing additional challenges – which is why we believe every child should have the chance to benefit from learning and engaging with music. 

Creating respite through creativity

A day of making music helps children relax, express themselves and enjoy positive social interaction. These experiences help children develop confidence, boost wellbeing, and gain independence – all while providing them with a secure and encouraging environment that offers valuable respite. 

Building confidence and belonging 

Being part of a Rocksteady band helps children build self-belief, pride and a sense of belonging. These outcomes can be even more powerful for those experiencing challenging circumstances as they feel empowered in a safe, supportive environment.

Students who normally struggle with noise were engrossed in the instruments and music from the workshop. One student who normally shuts his eyes with unfamiliar noises was seen to remain fully focussed with his eyes open whilst playing each instrument.
